What We Believe

As Southern Baptists

As Baptists we believe that earthly church authority resides in the local body of believers. There is no hierarchy dictating what each individual church must believe or practice; rather, the members of the church, under the leadership of her pastors, are accountable for themselves and one another. The Bible teaches that the church should be made up of only baptized believers, and, as a result, we practice believer’s baptism by immersion.

We joyfully and voluntarily partner with the churches and members of the Southern Baptist Convention in the work of the Gospel. The collective resources of Southern Baptists are used for the purposes of missions, discipleship, and theological education.

Our Vision

Two Passages of Scripture Clarify Our Mission As a Church:

The Great Commandment - "Teacher, which is the great commandment of the law?" Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest comnandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 22:36-40).

The Great Commission -Jesus said "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20).

These verses define our mission as followers of Christ personally, locally, and globally. We use a simple statment to help us understand and remember this mission and to focus our church on these core elements: Love, Connect, and Serve.

Everything we do here is centered around these three core elements as we are “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the Cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2:20-21).
